First, there is the fact that Van Pelt was the agent who was on protection duty when the witness was murdered. She was doing a perimeter sweep when she was hit from behind. This puts her under the ever-watchful gaze of internal affairs who offer her a chance to spy on her fellow team members to help identify a killer or be investigated for possibly not locking the door to the house where the witness was murdered.
The witness' wife had apparently committed suicide and after the murder, their daughter has now disappeared.
Patrick arrives to locate the girl and ends up identifying the killer, twice! I don't want to give away the story but some tough decisions get made by the end of this episode. Patrick goes toe to toe with the girl's Aunt and even cures her of her smoking habit!
There are some very interesting characters in this story and the acting is top notch.
But what's the story with Van Pelt's new fiancé? He seems dodgy to me. Is he the one they are searching for or is he yet another RED herring?
