Indiana Jones: The Soundtrack Collection

Regular readers will know that I am a huge Indiana Jones fan, so when the opportunity came to buy the entire four original soundtracks in one pack for a brilliant price on iTunes, I jumped at the chance!  Here were all four soundtracks as you would buy them normally in one compilation.
But it doesn't end there!  There is a fifth 'disc' of treasures!  Not only are there previously unreleased tracks on the four soundtracks, the fifth disc is entirely new material (save Raiders March which was half of the final track on the original ROTLA CD), never before released!  But the best bit is interviews by DVD bonus features/author extraordinaire, Laurent Bouzareau with not only George Lucas and Steven Spielberg, but with the composer himself, John Williams.  This is a treat for any music student, John Williams fan or just anyone who loves movie soundtracks.  He discussed the language of the music and gives us an insight into his thought process.  All three discuss all four movies.  Spectacular.
Of course, it's not all brilliance though.  While John Williams is exceptional at creating some of the most iconic themes for movies for the past forty years (Jaws, Star Wars, Jurassic Park [more on that in a blog coming very soon!], Harry Potter, to name but a few), I have found that listening to all 94 tracks back to back (practically six hours of music!) made the music blend together if it wasn't Indy's or Marion's themes.
Can I suggest, that if you purchase this set (and I highly recommend that you do!), listen to it in bite size pieces, say one album at a time, so as to avoid being burnt out!  An amazing compilation which I am very happy to now own.
