Stargate: Atlantis Season 4

I have finally been able to finish watching all of Stargate: Atlantis Season 4 on DVD!  This is a spin off of the television series Stargate:SG-1, which in turn was a spin off from the movie, Stargate!  While SG-1 was like Star Trek TOS, Atlantis was like Deep Space Nine.  The story has a scientific/military contingent taking over the Ancient base of Atlantis that was mentioned in SG-1.  It is in The Pegasus Galaxy so they are reasonably cut off from Earth and have to deal with the resident bad guys, The Wraith mostly on their own.  However, now they are in to the fourth season, they have a Stargate bridge between galaxies, called Midway and they have various ships shuttling between Earth and Atlantis.
The season starts with Atlantis lost in space as it left it's last planet when The Wraith attacked the city.  Of course they find a new planet before they run out of power and air.  After Dr Weir is critically injured, they get Sam Carter to lead the Atlantis expedition.  There are some fantastic episodes this season and the special effects just got better and better.  Joe Flanigan is brilliant as John Sheppard and of course David Hewlett continues to be great as Rodney McKay.  Jewel Staite is the regular Medical Chief after taking over from the deceased Carson Beckett.  Speaking about Carson, he makes a welcome return at the end of the season as a clone.  Teal'c even has a guest appearance in one episode where the Midway station is destroyed.
The season finishes with a brilliant episode, 'The Last Man'.  Sheppard gates back to Atlantis to find he has jumped 48,000 years into the future and the city is deserted, powerless and the oceans have dried up.  He find he has a hologram of Rodney to try to help him get back so that he can fix the time line where everything has apparently gone wrong.  However when they succeed, an attack on the location of where Teyla is being held prisoner by the half-Wraith, Michael, goes terribly wrong.  Are they all dead?  Did they destroy the timeline, only to make things worse?  All will be revealed in Season 5, which I still haven't seen!  Can't wait to watch it.  Can't believe they cancelled this brilliant show.
