The Very Best of Roy Orbison

Roy Orbison is one of the finest singer/songwriters to ever walk the earth.  I can't imagine one song of his that anyone could say they didn't like.  Once again, a performer I grew up with listening to my parent's old 33 records but then he made a resurgence in the 80's, my time.  I just had to have his best of album.  However, I am absolutely blown away by how many of his songs have featured in movies.  Here is a list of songs from the Very Best of collection that have featured in films, thanks to IMDB:
  • Oh, Pretty Woman: The Other End Of The Line, Comrade Pedersen, Date Movie, Miss Montgigny, Pretty Woman, Running On Empty. Au Pair, The Dog Trick, Bad Company, Girl's Night, Dumb & Dumber and Weird Science.
  • Claudette: W. and A Cool Dry Place.
  • Dream Baby: Crazy, Dance With Me, and That Night.
  • Only The Lonely: American Gangster, The Love Letter, Only The Lonely and Checking Out.
  • You Got It: Stay and Boys On The Side.
  • Blue Bayou: Man On Fire, The Sunchaser, Dreamcatcher, The Man Who Fell To Earth and Last Orders.
  • Crying: Mulholland Dr, The Guilty, Gravesend, Gummo, Hiding Out, and Down By Law.
  • Workin' For The Man - Kill The Man.
  • In Dreams: In Dreams, and Blue Velvet.
  • California Blue: Gypsy Magic
  • Ooby Dooby: Star Trek: First Contact
I also want to make mention of a little Aussie movie starring a brilliant Hugh Jackman (before he became a HUGE international star) called Paperback Hero.  It features three Roy Orbison songs, Cryin', Oh, Pretty Woman, and Only The Lonely.
