While out for his morning jog, Deeks stops in to his local corner store for his usual morning pick-me-up only to discover an apparent robbery taking place. His cop instincts kick in but not soon enough as he is shot and then the shooter stands over him and shoots again, this time point blank!
Kensi is rocked by this news as she has grown close to Deeks but also lost her last partner who was also shot. After some investigation it is found that the car driven by the shooter was also outside Deeks apartment that morning, meaning this was not a random shooting at a robbery, but that they were waiting for him to arrive.
After tracking down the gang members, Sam and Callen discover the real target is Kensi in retaliation for saving and relocating the wife and child of a terrorist (this, if I remember, is from the end of season one). Deeks was chosen because he is the newest member of team and has yet to learn how to change his routine every single day.
As the boys rush to the hospital, Kensi is leaving only to be ambushed in the hospital car park where a gun fight breaks out and just as one of the shooters is about to kill Kensi, he ends up being shot by Deeks, who has crawled out of his hospital bed.
This was a damn fine episode and like it's parent show, NCIS, has storylines that are linked to previous episodes, enhancing the continuity. Keep up the great work!
